At Horder Healthcare, we know that excellent patient care starts with a clean, safe and welcoming environment. We are currently looking for a Housekeeping Assistant to join our dedicated Housekeeping team at The Horder Centre.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a supportive team, and understands the importance of maintaining high standards in a healthcare setting.
The Role
As a Housekeeping Assistant, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring our hospital environment is clean, comfortable and safe for patients, visitors and colleagues. Working closely with the Housekeeping Supervisor and wider clinical teams, you’ll help create a positive experience for everyone who comes through our doors.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Cleaning patient bedrooms, en‑suites, day service areas and communal spaces to a high standard.
- Making and changing patient beds.
- Cleaning bathrooms, offices, corridors and entrance areas.
- Collecting and safely disposing of clinical, household and recycling waste.
- Handling and delivering laundry appropriately.
- Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and correctly.
- Completing daily cleaning schedules and checks.
- Following infection prevention, hygiene and health & safety procedures at all times.
- Communicating effectively with wider departmental staff to support patient care.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience.
- Reliable, hardworking and customer‑focused.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow procedures.
- Flexible and able to work under pressure when required.
Desirable
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment
Location: The Horder Centre, Crowborough
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Shifts: 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm, 10am to 6pm, 11am to 7pm. 1 in 3 weekends with shift times of 9am to 5pm. Enhanced rates of pay for evening and weekend work.
Salary: up to £25.252.00 per annum, depending on experience
