Your Role
As Sous Chef, you’ll play a vital part in delivering an exceptional catering service:
- Produce nutritious, attractive meals for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Support the Head Chef and Corporate Catering Manager in daily operations.
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, ensuring an efficient, high-quality service.
- Deputise in the Head Chef’s absence, overseeing kitchen operations and staff.
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and allergen standards are met and maintained.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, and kitchen resources effectively.
- Work closely with wards and departments to deliver a seamless service.
About You
You’ll combine technical skill with leadership and a passion for quality:
Essential:
- City & Guilds 706/2, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
- CIEH Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
- Experience supervising within a busy catering environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Experience in menu planning, including special diets.
You’ll also be:

- Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing needs.
- Passionate about maintaining high standards and continuous improvement
Location: The Horder Centre, Crowborough
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift Pattern: 5 days of 7, Monday - Sunday: Shift timings vary: 6:30am - 2:30pm I 7:00am - 3pm I 10:30am - 6:30pm
Salary: up to £27,564.00 per annum, plus enhanced rates of pay for weekend and Bank Holidays
