The role

As a Non-Executive Director, you will contribute to the overall leadership and governance of Horder Healthcare. You’ll bring an independent perspective, helping ensure strong decision-making, robust governance and outstanding organisational performance.

In this nursing-focused NED role, you will:

  • Provide oversight of clinical governance, patient safety and safeguarding
  • Ensure quality, risk and assurance systems are effective and meaningful
  • Keep patient experience and outcomes at the heart of Board decisions
  • Offer senior clinical insight to influence strategy, transformation and quality improvement
  • Chair the Clinical Governance Committee, playing a key leadership role
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation and its values

About you

You are a credible, senior nursing leader with the confidence and integrity to both support and challenge constructively at Board level.

You will bring:

  • Registration as a qualified nurse, with significant senior leadership experience
  • Experience operating at Board or equivalent strategic level
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Governance, accountability and assurance
    • Strategy and organisational performance
    • Organisational culture and values
    • Service development and improvement
    • Healthcare regulation (including CQC frameworks)
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to interpret complex information and ask the right questions

Desirable experience includes:

  • Chief Nurse, Director of Quality or equivalent
  • Service transformation, improvement or pathway redesign
  • Knowledge of independent healthcare, charity governance or community services

Commitment

  • Approximately 6 Board meetings per year (in person, including strategy sessions)
  • Chairing the Clinical Governance Committee (4 meetings annually)
  • Participation in Finance & Resource Committee meetings
  • Time for preparation, development and stakeholder engagement
