Join the team at The McIndoe Centre, where exceptional care goes beyond clinical treatment. We’re looking for a motivated, friendly and dependable Ward Host to become a key link between our patients and our catering team — making sure every meal is served with care, attention to detail and a smile.
As the friendly face of our catering service, you’ll help create a positive patient experience from the moment orders are taken through to mealtime service. You’ll support patients, visitors and colleagues with high-quality food and beverage service, while helping the kitchen run smoothly during busy periods.
What you'll be doing:
- Taking and communicating food and beverage orders for patients, visitors and staff.
- Preparing patient trays and trolleys in line with individual orders and dietary requirements.
- Supporting the preparation and service of sandwiches, salads, cold starters and beverages.
- Serving food and drinks to agreed standards, always maintaining a warm and professional approach.
- Restocking serveries, vending machines and counters so service areas are ready for use.
- Maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, food safety, presentation and customer care.
- Recording allergen and special dietary information accurately and sharing it with the kitchen team.
- Helping monitor patient, visitor and staff satisfaction and contributing ideas for service improvement.

- Flexibility to work shift patterns, including weekends and evenings where required.
- Level 2 Food Safety, or willingness to complete this with support from Horder Healthcare.
- Awareness of safeguarding, food hygiene, allergen awareness and COSHH requirements, or willingness to learn.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills are helpful, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

Location: The McIndoe Centre
Salary: £24,784.50 per annum
Contract type and hours: permanent 37.5 hours per week
Shift pattern: 5 out of 7 between Monday and Sunday
