Join the team at The McIndoe Centre, where exceptional care goes beyond clinical treatment. We’re looking for a motivated, friendly and dependable Ward Host to become a key link between our patients and our catering team — making sure every meal is served with care, attention to detail and a smile.

As the friendly face of our catering service, you’ll help create a positive patient experience from the moment orders are taken through to mealtime service. You’ll support patients, visitors and colleagues with high-quality food and beverage service, while helping the kitchen run smoothly during busy periods.

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking and communicating food and beverage orders for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Preparing patient trays and trolleys in line with individual orders and dietary requirements.
  • Supporting the preparation and service of sandwiches, salads, cold starters and beverages.
  • Serving food and drinks to agreed standards, always maintaining a warm and professional approach.
  • Restocking serveries, vending machines and counters so service areas are ready for use.
  • Maintaining excellent standards of hygiene, food safety, presentation and customer care.
  • Recording allergen and special dietary information accurately and sharing it with the kitchen team.
  • Helping monitor patient, visitor and staff satisfaction and contributing ideas for service improvement.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A dependable, enthusiastic attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, including weekends and evenings where required.
  • Level 2 Food Safety, or willingness to complete this with support from Horder Healthcare.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, food hygiene, allergen awareness and COSHH requirements, or willingness to learn.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills are helpful, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.

What we offer:

Location: The McIndoe Centre

Salary: £24,784.50 per annum

Contract type and hours: permanent 37.5 hours per week

Shift pattern: 5 out of 7 between Monday and Sunday
