Chief Nurse

The Horder Centre, Crowborough and The McIndoe Centre, East Grinstead

£75,000 - £85,000

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Nurse to join us at Horder Healthcare. In this role you will be an integral part of a team who are committed to delivering the highest clinical outcomes. manage clinical staff, providing clinical leadership and support for our frontline workforce.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive the postholder will have corporate responsibility for clinical governance and risk management and provide professional leadership to Horder Healthcare’s clinical workforce to enable them to deliver the highest quality of care in line with our values.

Specifically, the postholder will be responsible for;

  • Providing the Executive Team and the Board of Trustees with expert nursing advice, including the development and implementation of Horder Healthcare’s clinical strategy;
  • Provide executive leadership to the Board Clinical Governance Committee and attend full meetings of the Board of Trustees as a member of the executive team;
  • Providing professional leadership to the nursing workforce, including senior nurse supervision and the on-going development and education of the nursing workforce;
  • Providing executive leadership for the quality improvement programme and production of the annual quality account;
  • Holding the position of responsible person for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and acting as lead director for the development and maintenance of CQC standards;
  • Provide executive leadership of clinical governance and risk management, ensuring that systems and processes are in place to assure the Board of Trustees that services remain safe and compliant with regulatory requirements;
  • Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and the Medical Director to ensure alignment of systems of risk management and internal control;
  • Delivering exceptional patient experience and outstanding clinical outcomes through effective leadership of the operational teams;
  • Serve as Director of Infection Prevention & Control (DIPaC);
  • Serve as Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO);
  • Provide executive leadership to the HH safeguarding lead;
  • Provide executive leadership to the HH Caldecott guardian;
  • Deputise for the Chief Executive as required

 Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum of 1st degree or the equivalent general educational attainment
  • Evidence of on-going professional development
  • Current and extensive recent experience working in a healthcare organisation at a senior nurse level
  • Experience of conducting audits and risk assessments
  • Up to date and in-depth knowledge of nursing practice and principles of quality governance Strong leadership qualities with ability to champion continuous improvement and patient/customer focus
  • Ability to advise staff on nursing practice issues in relation to supporting good nursing standards Well-developed interpersonal, facilitation and negotiation and relationship management skills Proven excellent organisational abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven ability to be a self-starter and work independently, with demonstrable initiative and drive
